Youth Town Hockey Skills

This Term we have been working with Youth Town sports and learning different hockey skills.

Year 6 Team Building Activity

At the end of this Term we took part in a Year 6 Team building challenge in the Auditorium.  We had to work together to build a bridge that was wide enough for a ball to pass through and strong enough to hold a dictionary.

About The Artist

About the Artist Saufoi Junior Tavete is 11 years young. He lives in East Tamaki.  Saufoi is Samoan but was born in New Zealand. He is a Year 6 student and has been attending Elm Park School for 5 Years. His favourite subjects are Maths, P.E, Reading and History. The school values he used are Perseverance because he never gave up when something was challenging and Quality because his work was completed to a high standard. Saufoi has learned to blend and mix colours to make his art work look detailed and more realistic. When Saufoi grows up he wants to play MLB (Major League Baseball) in U.S.A. Saufoi’s future goal is to have happy and loving family.

Learning Reflection

I am learning to write in third person
I am so proud of being able to write in third person
It can be tricky to write in third person because sometimes instead of writing him or he you would write I.
My buddy or Teacher can help me.
The next step for me might be to practice using more third person.

Hawaiian Group

On Tuesday our Hawaiian group went to perform at Te Wananga O Aotearoa in Mangere. 

Japanese Calligraphy

Last Thursday we had a visit from HOSHINO GAKUEN PRIMARY SCHOOL.  They showed us how to play Japanese card games and how to write our names in Japanese.

Colour My World" Art Exhibition 2015

For Art Exhibition we had to learn about tinting and blending colours.  

We learned to mix primary, secondary and tertiary colours.

We had to blend the colours together to make our eye look realistic.

Netball Field Day

I got this award for being an outstanding representative for Elm Park School.

Potrait

For this Art piece we learned how to about facial symmetry and how to use guidelines to properly position facial features on our faces.  We then used shading to try to make our faces look 3 Dimensional.

School Councillor

I was chosen to be School Councillor. It made me feel proud.

Star Of The Week Award

I got this award for being a responsible member of room 21.

Eye Art - Term 1

WALT draw a realistic eye.

WALT use our sketching pencil to whisper, talk and shout.

Polyfest

On Friday we went to Polyfest and watched a lot of performances. My favourite performance was the Kelston Boys and Kelston Girls High school Kapa Haka because they were fierce and confident. It was fun.

Positive Interaction Award

I got this award for using the School Values and showing a positive attitude.

Korean Visitor - Term 1

This Term we had two visitors from Korea working with us for three weeks.  Their names were Duncan and Jordan.  We enjoyed working with them and learning about their home.

Bike Skills - Term 1

This Term we have been taking part in a Bike Wise Programme where we have been learning different bike skills on the field.  We have learned how to scoot on our bike, we learned how to signal with both hands and we also learned how to go over an obstacle.  These skills will help us when we go Mountain Biking at Camp in Term 4.

Soccer Skills - Term 1
